Isaiah Rabinovich.
Major trends in modern Hebrew fiction
/ Isaiah Rabinovich ; translated from the Hebrew by M. Roston -- Chicago & London : The University of Chicago Press, 1968.
    xii, 288 pages.

This book is the first volume of a study of major trends in modern Hebrew literature. The term "modern" is intended to distinguish recent literature, which regards creative writing as an end in itself, from the literature of the Enlightenment, which employed it for the most part as a vehicle for didacticism or satire in the pursuit of its ideological aims for Jewish society. This initial volume deals with fiction during the modern era; the next volume will examine its poetry.
